Time Flies Friday is a weekly feature/blog hop hosted by Gemma at Passion for Novels. This is where we feature a book that we loved as a child, one that we cherish and remember.
This week I have chosen:
Mrs Frisby & the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O'Brien
This unusual novel, winner of the Newbery Medal (among a host of other accolades) snags the reader on page one and reels in steadily all the way through to the exhilarating conclusion. Robert O'Brien has created a small but complete world in which a mother's concern for her son overpowers her fear of all her natural enemies and allows her to make some extraordinary discoveries along the way.
Aaah, I have such fond memories of this story. My grandad used to gather all the visiting granchildre togethern and sit us all down and read. This is one of the books that he read to us. I loved it. A great story and warm fuzzy memories. I have read this book as an adult and I still think it's a very good story. One I would recommend for people to share with their children. I have bought a copy of this book as a keeper and it sits proudly on my bookcase.
