This weeks Top Ten list is:
Top Ten Childhood Faves!
We all have them.... yes I'm talking about book we read as a child and adored, books whose memories have stayed with us. Here is my top ten books that I treasured as a child...... aaah such fond memories :D
#1
The Wishing Chair Adventures by Enid Blyton - I loved these stories, it opened up a magical world. My favourite character was Chinky, I think he was the little pixie that the two children (Molly & Peter) saved on one of their advetures on the wishing chair. My Nan used to have a stack of books at her house and we'd borrow one to read.
#2
Mrs Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C O'Brien - This has to be one of my favourite childrens books. I loved the animal characters and the way the rats if NIMH had to save the home of Mrs Frisby the mouse. I have to admit I did read the second in the series but it wasn't as good as this one.
#3
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl - This was the first ever book I read by this author - I loved it! In fact I've loved all of his books. He really does open up the imagination for children. I really must get round to re-reading his books!! They are fantastic!!
#4
George's Marvelous Medicine by Roald Dahl - I could bore you here and just list the rest of Roald Dahl's books. But this is the last one of his books I am going to list. This one sticks out for me because there is a line in the book which I find most hilarious. "Grandma's mouth was small and mean, like a puckered up dog's bottom"........ that cracked me up as a child!!
#5
The Tale of Mr Jeremy Fisher by Beatrix Potter - I remember reading her books, but I have to say this one always sticks out for me. I loved this little story about the frog Jeremy Fisher. Awww so sweet :)
#6
Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame - I remember this book from shcool, how I loved the tales of Ratty and Badger and the mad Toad from Toad Hall. A wonderful story that brings back great memories.
#7
A Bear Called Paddington by Michael Bond - I do have fond memories of this bear and his marmalade. At times grumpy but also at times very sweet.
#8
The Box of Delights by John Masefield - This was another one from Nan's house. I loved this story but it did scare me a little with the wolves. I saw a tv adaption of this too and thought it was brilliant. I did read it about 5 years ago to re-capture the magic. It was just as good :)
#9
The 101 Dalmations by Dodie Smith - I just adore this book and not because it features dogs. A fantastic tale with brilliant characters. I mean who hasn't heard of Cruella De Vil, the wicked puppy stealer who loves her fur coats. I've read this so many times over the years and just thinking about it makes me want to read it now!!
#10
The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe by C S Lewis - I never managed to read all the books in the Chronicles of Narnia series as a child, so it was one of my aims to finish them all as an adult. I did that a few years ago and I have to say that The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe is my clear favourite. I loved the world of Narnia and I cried my eyes out when Aslan was captured by the witch.

I love The Wishing Chair too!
We have some in common! I forgot about Paddington Bear though.
What a great list! Paddington, yes. And Box of Delights. And 101 Dalmations. All fabulous.
Here's my Top Ten!
Anything by Roald Dahl is awesome (despite me managing to forget him when writing my list). I was a total BFG girl!
My Top Ten is here if you'd like a look :)
Excellent choices - we share a fave!
Here’s my Top Ten Tuesday post. :)
The Wind in the Willows is a good one! I have the classic edition of this book and I remember reading it and being fascinated :)
Ha ha! Lots of great books here - most of which never made my list! :) I loved the movie of Nimh but I don't think I ever read the book - I got a second-hand copy a few years ago so I can remedy that some day. Loved Wind in the Willows and Beatrix Potter and 101 Dalmations.
I'm not sure when I read the Narnia books but I think I was a bit older. I know my best friend gave me The Silver Chair in I think grade 2, so I read that on its own before the rest!
Here's my list.
