When I moved house about two years ago I used to have around 200 books. Since using different books forums like http://www.readitswapit.co.uk/ and http://www.goodreads.com/ I am now up to roughly 1500 books. Most of these have been swapped or given to me by friends. The trouble is you see a good book review and you add to the pile.
I have always been a big reader. In my teens I loved nothing more than reading Stephen King, Terry Pratchett and my biggest love of all Dragonlance books. These books opened a whole new world to me.
People often ask me what my favourite book is. This is a really hard question because I have so many books I love. If pushed I woud have to say it is The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan.
Synopisis:
In Mary's world there are simple truths. The Sisterhood always knows best. The Guardians will protect and serve. The Unconsecrated will never relent. And you must always mind the fence that surrounds the village; the fence that protects the village from the Forest of Hands and Teeth. But, slowly, Mary's truths are failing her. She's learning things she never wanted to know about the Sisterhood and its secrets, and the Guardians and their power, and about the Unconsecrated and their relentlessness. When the fence is breached and her world is thrown into chaos, she must choose between her village and her future - between the one she loves and the one who loves her. And she must face the truth about the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Could there be life outside a world surrounded in so much death?
