Cursed By S A Archer: Blog Tour

I’m really pleased Chocolate Chunky Munkie is part of the blog tour for Cursed.  I have to say that when I read the blurb I was quite excited; this sounded just my kind of book.

For my first stop of the blog tour is my review of Cursed.

Look out for my second stop on the 23rd this will be an author guest post by S. A. Archer and a giveaway.

Released : 28th October 2011
Publisher: Ravynheart Publishing
Series :Yes - #1 in the Touched series, which is part of the Sidhe series
Format :Kindle
Source : Kindle copy from Author
Goodreads Synopsis:
Touched: Part 1

As a private investigator specializing in paranormal problems, London Eyer thought she could handle working for the Sidhe. They couldn’t be any worse than vampires or werewolves or wizards, could they? Oh, how wrong she was. One ‘Touch’ of Sidhe magic and she was cursed. Her only chance to survive is to serve the creep that cursed her against the vicious Changelings out for his blood.

Touched is one of the interlacing story lines, that makes up The Sidhe saga. Each thread can be read alone, but if you read them together in the suggested order, you will get the full experience.

Length: novelette (10,000 words)

 My review:

I was given a copy of this book to read from the author.

This book was 10,000 words so it was a short novelette, it was packed full of action and started off with a bang.

There are some adult content to this book so it would not be suitable for younger readers.

In the first chapter we meet the protagonist London, a female private investigator that is involved in the world of Parahuman.  In her world we meet vampires, the fey, changelings (who have the ability to shape shift) and wizards.  London’s best friend, Selena is a vampire and in the first chapter you are introduced to both London and Selena.  They have a very close friendship; you can see this in the story.  London is introduced to a new client and things take an unexpected turn, she is thrust into a turbulent situation where time is of the essence.

This is the first book I have ever read by S A Archer and I have to say I found it very good.  I liked the writing style and found it flowed quite easily.  I managed to devour this book in less than two hours.  I would definitely like to read more books in this series and I have them sat on my kindle waiting; they won’t be staying there unread for much longer.  I’m keen to read more about the world that S A Archer has created.

I love books with strong female characters, London ticks every box.  She certainly knows how to look after herself and it seems life is not boring around her.

My only criticism is that I wish the book had been longer, but this is a novelette after all.  But this is has only whet my appetite for more of the stories.

Story rating: 4/5 – this was action packed and I really enjoyed the fast pace.

Cover rating: 3/5 – I like the strong female character on the front, it really suits the book.
