Goodreads Synopsis:
Kyla’s memory has been erased,
her personality wiped blank,
her memories lost for ever.
She’s been Slated.
The government claims she was a terrorist, and that they are giving her a second chance - as long as she plays by their rules. But echoes of the past whisper in Kyla’s mind. Someone is lying to her, and nothing is as it seems. Who can she trust in her search for the truth?
My Review:
Imagine a society controlled by a government who rehabilitate young offenders by wiping clean their memories and mind. But all is not as it seems........ We meet Kayla a teen who has been “slated”, she is re-homed with a new family and has to experience a whole new environment. But Kayla is different, she has flashbacks of memories from her past life. And this is not something that usually happens. In a bid to find out the truth, Kayla must face dangerous times for her and those around her.
It’s been two days since I completed Slated and I am still buzzing about this book. I think it will be one of the top books I’ve read this year.
The books starts off at a fast pace and doesn’t really stop until the end. This book is so worthy of a five out of five stars. It was an absorbing read, I was totally engrossed in this book, so much so that I felt really niggled when anyone disturbed my reading.
I love the main character Kayla, she is a very complex and interesting character. You can’t help but root for her and her quest to find the truth
.
I have to say I am very eager for the next in the series; it has certainly whetted my appetite for more. Great story and a great book. I would highly recommend this!
Story Rating: 5/5 - An explosive dystopian roller coaster.
Cover Rating - 4/4 - I think this cover is brilliant, very effective. I would certainly stop and take notice of this cover.

I can't tell you how intriguing this sounds! I hadn't heard of Slated before but always the idea of someone playing with my memories freaks me out - after all what are we but the sum of our memories? I am definitely adding this to my wishlist!
Great review!! This book sounds very intriguing. I must read this
Interesting review, I do like books that go at a good pace.
I agree the cover is great.
Looking forward to reading this one :)
I've had this one on my wishlist since I first saw the cover and read the blurb.
I love how politics and sci-fi come together in this one!
And it's great Kyla is a fully fleshed-out character. It doesn't always happen in sci fi stories.
Wow this one sounds exciting and scary! I'd hate for my memories to be completely wiped. A must add for my TBR. Nice blog, new follower!
I'm interested in this book for three reasons:
1. I have a friend named Kyla.
2. Sounds pretty interesting.
3. Your review, which I consider a confirmation of how interesting this book is.
Ta-da!
This sounds like an absorbing read! can't wait!
Wow, great review, I'll have to get this one! I love it when a book stays with me after finishing it :)
Great review!! I keep seeing this pop up and I want to read it SO badly! I need to buy it soon :)
Great review, I've been wanting to read this for a while. I love these dystopian stories and this one sounds especially good. I'm very interested in alternatives to incarceration, especially for juveniles, so that aspect of the book also intrigues me. I mean, I don't think that wiping all their memories is a good alternative, but... you know what I mean ;) Oh, it's also a special treat to hear you say that a book actually has an excellent vision of the dystopia, since I've been finding that a lot of the young adult books like this that I've been reading don't have much reasoning or thought behind that vision of society, they just kind of dump you in the middle of it and *tell* you it's this horrible dystopian society with some cruel government (and then there's a love fest between the teenage boy and girl, ha!). So I'm hoping, based on what you said, that this book goes further. Thanks for the review, I'm really looking forward to reading this one!
